Red Bull Global Rallycross is all about bringing the future of racing into the present, whether it’s through the action on track or the drivers and teams competing. When it comes to the latter, 15-year-old Parker Chase is living proof that the future has arrived.
After half a decade of racing everything from karts to sports cars, Chase is the latest promising young talent to make the move into GRC Lites. With multiple karting championships under his belt, the Texan stormed through the ranks in open-wheel and sports cars, earning his SCCA professional license last year at only 14.
He’ll be getting his money’s worth behind the wheel this year—aside from Lites, he’s also signed up for partial sports car programs in both World Challenge and the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge—but adapting to rallycross will be his primary focus.
Running with PMG Rallysport, one of the newest teams on the Lites grid, Chase and fellow karting phenom Harry Gottsacker will be aiming to make their mark on short notice as two rookies to watch in 2016. Don’t sleep on them just because they’re rookies, either; Dreyer & Reinbold Racing took four wins as a first-year team in 2015 with a pair of drivers with similar backgrounds.
The 2016 Lites rookie class is as deep as ever, but don’t leave Chase out of the freshman conversation. He’ll be working overtime to make sure that you remember his name.
