Red Bull GRC Atlantic City: Rivalries to Watch

It’s been a long summer break for the drivers and teams of Red Bull Global Rallycross. The five-week gap between action at Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis and this weekend’s Atlantic City doubleheader is tied for the longest of the season, matched only by the five weeks between the Seattle and Los Angeles rounds that end the year.

But just because there’s been a pause in the action, doesn’t mean that Red Bull GRC’s biggest rivalries have been forgotten. Keep an eye out for the following battles this weekend in Bader Field—they just might produce the best racing of the weekend:

Alex Keyes vs. Conner Martell

While these two have been friends off track in the past, Keyes and Martell have had their fair share of on-track altercations this year. But it was after Keyes’ contact with Martell’s teammate James Rimmer in Indianapolis (a move that disqualified Keyes from the final) that things started getting hot: the DirtFish Motorsports driver called out his Dreyer & Reinbold Racing rival on Twitter. Looks like these two may not be sharing any more bicycle rides anytime soon.

Steve Arpin vs. Tanner Foust

This battle has some serious implications, both on track and off: not only are Foust and Arpin engaged in a battle for the Supercar championship, they’re also among the top vote-getters in this year’s Fan Favorite Driver of the Year vote. One is the four-time defending award winner, the other is one of the most beloved figures in the paddock. Which driver will come out on top? You can’t influence the on-track action, but you can choose your favorite drivers right here!

Mitchell deJong vs. Sebastian Eriksson vs. Oliver Eriksson

After deJong suffered a mechanical failure in pre-grid in Indianapolis, missing the semifinals and final, the gap to third place became larger—and the challenge for fourth became much stronger. All three Honda Red Bull Olsbergs MSE drivers are within 14 points of one another for the spot. Who will come out on top in the final standings: deJong with his three podiums, Sebastian with his Louisville victory, or Oliver, who seems to get stronger every weekend he races?
