Staturday Progressions: Patrik Sandell

January 7, 2017

Stat geeks, rejoice! On Saturdays throughout the 2016 offseason, we’ll be looking back at top Red Bull GRC drivers’ performances over the past three years. Stay tuned for more Staturday Progressions posts and click here to bookmark the archive!

For four years, Sweden’s Patrik Sandell has been one of Red Bull Global Rallycross’ most reliable contenders for race wins and podium finishes. Alongside Scott Speed and Tanner Foust, he’s one of only three drivers in the series to take a race victory over each of the past three years. (In fact, his most recent victory in Dallas came after getting past both of those drivers on the first lap of the final!)

2017 will be a year of change for Sandell as he makes the move from Bryan Herta Rallysport to Subaru Rally Team USA and attempts to keep that streak alive. After adding to his podium count and improving his average finish in each of the past two seasons, a third straight year of progression would put Subaru right in the thick of the title hunt.
