DirtFish Confirms Conner Martell, James Rimmer for 2017 GRC Lites Season
DirtFish Motorsports has announced that Conner Martell and James Rimmer will return to the team for the 2017 GRC Lites season. Coming off of a two-victory season last year that saw the team in championship contention, this will be the first year that DirtFish Motorsports campaigns two cars full-time.
“We are looking forward in anticipation to another great Global Rallycross season in 2017,” DirtFish general manager Mac McInnis said in a release. “Last year, Conner proved that he had the precision, skill and determination to finish at the top of the podium. Equally as exciting is James Rimmer as our second driver. I have watched James grow as a driver over the last couple years and he truly has shown that he has what it takes to be a contender in the championship as well.”
Martell led DirtFish’s charge last season, kicking off the year with a victory in Phoenix in only his second start with the team. In the fall, he earned a popular victory in Seattle, posting a clean sweep in the team’s home race at Evergreen Speedway. One of only four drivers who entered the season finale in Los Angeles with a shot at the championship, Martell ended the year fourth in the standings with two wins, three podiums, and four heat victories.
Already an experienced stage rally driver in his teens, Rimmer made the switch to rallycross for the first time with his debut at Seattle last September. In three starts last season, he made his first main event appearance as he and the team prepared for a full-time effort in 2017.
Based in Snoqualmie, WA, DirtFish Rally School has been a significant presence in Red Bull Global Rallycross for much of the series’ history. DirtFish has hosted Red Bull GRC events and sponsored Supercar entries with Subaru Rally Team USA and driver David Higgins in addition to fielding a GRC Lites team since 2015.
