Red Bull GRC Drivers Enter “Danger Zone” in Music Video Shoot
Defending Red Bull Global Rallycross Washington DC winner Patrik Sandell and new GRC Lites driver Jackie Heinricher had an extra commitment to knock out after last Thursday’s Media Day: a music video shoot. The pair of drivers headed to Willow Springs Raceway on Friday to shoot the video for “Danger Zone,” the latest single by musician Lauren Mayhew.
“In another life, clearly, I should have been a race car driver,” said Mayhew, “because it doesn’t get any cooler than Red Bull Global Rallycross. I was so lucky to be able to have Patrik and Jackie be a part of my music video for ‘Danger Zone’—they were amazing.”
The clip features Sandell, who just announced his move to Bryan Herta Rallysport during Media Day, driving a brand new 2015 Ford Mustang. In the story, he faces off with Heinricher, piloting her brand new #57 Rhys Millen Racing GRC Lites ride, with Mayhew serving as the starter in the head-to-head race.
“Having them at the starting line when they were taking off, you can feel the power of the cars,” Mayhew continued. It’s so exciting. Also, Patrik got to show off a bit of his acting chops, so get excited, racing fans!”
“I don’t think acting will be my next big thing—especially not music videos—because I can’t dance!” Sandell joked. “But if they’d like me to do some more driving, I’d love to. I enjoyed it, and it was a lot of fun.”
For Heinricher, the video represented her first media appearance since announcing her participation in GRC Lites. She used the same vehicle in the video that she will race in 2015, decked out in the white, orange and black Manadoob livery that she will take to the track this year.
“It was awesome working with the crew to be a part of a very cool video experience ahead of my first race, and riding car to car alongside Patrik Sandell,” Heinricher said. “I had a great time getting to know Patrik. He’s an incredible guy and an awesome racing driver!”
The full video for “Danger Zone” will drop at the end of May on Mayhew’s YouTube channel.
