Scott Speed Wins Pole For Red Bull Global Rallycross Atlantic City I
Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross driver Scott Speed continued his charge back to the top of the Supercar standings with a blistering pole lap in Saturday’s qualifying for Red Bull Global Rallycross Atlantic City. The two-time defending series champion posted a time of 52.621 seconds, more than seven tenths of a second faster than teammate and points leader Tanner Foust.
Speed, the series’ most recent winner in Indianapolis, turned a top time of 51.815 seconds in final practice, but drizzling rain slowed the drivers down in the time trial session. The wet Bader Field course kept most drivers close on the time charts, with Foust and Mitchell deJong also spending time at the top of the table before the checkered flag fell. The same was the case in GRC Lites, where Cyril Raymond’s lap of 55.921 seconds dethroned Indianapolis winner Christian Brooks.
