Speed, Rimmer Dominate Preliminary Rounds of Red Bull GRC Seattle II
Patrik Sandell may have earned the pole, but Scott Speed will start at the front of the pack in Sunday’s Red Bull Global Rallycross Supercar final from Evergreen Speedway. Speed won each of his three preliminary sessions—two heats and a semifinal—to earn the top starting spot for the second Seattle final.
Speed beat Patrik Sandell across the line in both his first and second round heats to earn the pole for the first semifinal. Austin Dyne won the additional first round heat by holding off Steve Arpin, while Tanner Foust held off Mitchell deJong in the second round. Speed outdueled Foust in a drag race to the dirt to take the lead in the semis, while Sandell reclaimed the top spot in the second semifinal.
In GRC Lites, James Rimmer was the class of the field with a perfect sweep of his two heats and semifinal. Travis PeCoy won the additional first-round heat, while Cyril Raymond took the other second-round heat and semifinal. Sunday’s Lites final will consist of eight laps, rather than 10, as Raymond looks to lock up the championship by simply starting the session.
