TEAM: #14 Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing Ford Fiesta ST

2016 RESULTS: 11 starts, best finish 5th; 198 points, 8th overall (Supercar)

2016 IN REVIEW: Dyne’s decision to run his own program in 2016 was a bold one, but Red Bull Global Rallycross fans likely expected nothing less from one of the series’ boldest drivers. As usual, he had no trouble finding his way into main events—this time, making it into every single one—while also putting together some solid results. Despite balancing the many responsibilities of both competitive driving and team ownership, Dyne’s focus never wavered in 2016.

WHAT’S NEW: The name on the side of the hauler, for one: this will be Rahal Letterman Lanigan’s first foray into rallycross, and the move brings not only one of open-wheel racing’s most legendary drivers but also one of television’s most iconic names into the Red Bull GRC fray. That support should arm Dyne with much of what he needs to take the next step, as the experienced IndyCar and sports car team is anything but a stranger to the top of the podium.

OUTLOOK: Any and every race driver in the world clamors for an opportunity like this: the chance to step into a proven, winning organization as a lead driver and challenge for wins and championships. That’s what Dyne has in 2017; likewise, his own experience in the series will be a key piece of the puzzle to the newcomers. The ability to learn with a proven M-Sport chassis also helps, and Red Bull GRC fans should expect strong finishes by the end of the season.
