TEAM: #3 Dreyer & Reinbold Racing GRC Lites

2016 RESULTS: 11 starts, 1 podium, 1 heat win; 249 points, 8th overall (Lites)

2016 IN REVIEW: PeCoy was one of two rookies on the AF Racing Team last year, joining fellow newcomer Christian Brooks and class veteran Alejandro Fernandez on the squad. Already an off-road veteran at a young age, PeCoy took a few races to adapt to the pavement, but by year’s end, was regularly running up front; in fact, he was the fourth-highest point scorer in Lites over the second half of the season, and first cracked the podium in Atlantic City.

WHAT’S NEW: The PeCoy-Brooks tandem remains intact for 2017, but with a new team and a new third driver: they’ll join Alex Keyes at Dreyer & Reinbold Racing this year, as DRR expands to three full-time cars for the first time. Last year, DRR’s drivers combined to produce a championship, five victories, and the top two point-scoring cars in the class. In short, it’s a big move for any second-year driver, and a huge opportunity for PeCoy to take the next step.

OUTLOOK: If PeCoy continues building on the momentum that he generated in the second half of last season, he has some incredible potential for 2017. Most of the previous Lites title contenders have benefited from a full season’s worth of experience to learn the car and the series, and it won’t be a shock if the same happens for the California native. Now that he’s both comfortable on pavement and backed by the top team on the grid, the sky is the limit.
